My new Ultimate MMA magazine (September) has a half page article about the contest (with a picture of Bubba). It says the contest ends July 7. Good luck everyone.

I'm very excited.  This is like Powerball for martial artists. Very Happy

The winner was announced today. He's a member of the U.S. Marine Corp.

I don't know if he wrote 5 sentences. What I saw was, "My Marines deserve the Bubba dummy." That's awesome.

Thanks to everyone who entered.

NOOOOOOOOOO!   Sad  Well, OK.  I'm sure they deserved it.

I still have Earl Jr. to train with. Very Happy

James I just got a Bubba Dummy! How are you supporting your dummy? I am thinking some sort of harness set up but it looks like your "rope" is coming from earl Jr's head!

Also, bubbamaker any suggestions on how other people suspend their dummies would be great!

Thanks

Hi, Matt:

I built Earl, Jr. so that he could be suspended.  His head is a sculpted foam ball around a PVC neck that runs up through the ball.  His bones are all PVC and the neck is connected to the shoulders via a 1 inch thick piece of rope, which makes a loop out the top of the head.  This lets me hang him from the joists in my basement.

The first dummy I built years ago in Hawaii (Earl, Sr.) didn't have this loop, so I suspended him by taking an old jiu-jitsu belt and tying a harness around his shoulders and upper torso.  I clipped a carabiner to the belt and hung him from an exercise tower.  I would imagine that you could suspend Bubba the same way.

Aloha,
Jim

Well, he's not really made to be a hanging punching bag.  But, I like James' idea.  You also might try this:  take an old belt, tie it around the chest (running it just under the arms), then use that as a harness.

I hope this helps.  Bubba should be tough enough for that, but he's really better for beatings on the ground.

James and Bubbamaker thanks for your replies! I am gonna try it, if it does not work I can by a climbing chest harness for about $20.00

Bubbamaker, I am not gonna beat on him like a heavy bag. I want to work on standing chokes and submissions. Burton has the standing front collar choke as one of his "Three Kings" in the choke 'em out book. Also I may smack him around Battlefield Kali style...just to see what happens.Oh and maybe a "grab the head and thrust the blade into his gut" session may be in order Very Happy  Plus I need to work on shooting in for a takedown...

Also I love the little DVD with Burton, but a whole solo training with Bubba DVD would be great!!

That would be cool.  But, it should be done by a black belt.  I'm not a black belt, so I guess we'll have to work on Burton.

Smile

Actually, I'm kidding.  He's done so much for me already.  Most people don't know this, but he's responsible for me getting the licensing deal with I & I Sports.   They build all of the Bubbas now.
